THE News Agents podcast has quietly changed the name of its latest episode after initially claiming that police were “digging up” Nicola Sturgeon’s garden.
Former BBC journalists Emily Maitlis, Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall have fronted the popular podcast since its launch in August last year.
It is described as a daily news round-up with “astute analysis and explanation of the day's news – and a healthy dose of scepticism and the ability to laugh at it all when needed!”
The episode discussing the arrest and release of Peter Murrell published on April 7 was originally titled “Why are the police digging up Nicola Sturgeon’s garden?” - as is evidenced by a tweet made by Emily Maitlis that day (below).

However, by Monday it had been changed to “Why are the police searching Nicola Sturgeon’s house?”
On April 6 – the day Peter Murrell was arrested – the Daily Mail claimed that police were digging up the garden of the couple’s home during a search of the property after officers were spotted holding shovels.
But the spades appear to have been taken from a shed the police were searching and there is no evidence that any digging took place.
At present, there is no information on the podcast’s description informing listeners that the name was changed.
Global, the media company which produces the News Agents, has been contacted for comment.
