Newport County have sacked manager James Rowberry after a poor start to the League Two season.
The Exiles currently sit 18th in the table and, having started the season hoping to be in contention for promotion, are facing the risk of a relegation battle. A 1-0 defeat to lowly Rochdale on the weekend proved the final straw, despite his insistence he was still the right man for the job.
His assistant Carl Serrant has also left the club and sporting director Darren Kelly will be in charge at Crawley this weekend.
"Newport County AFC has today parted company with first team manager James Rowberry and assistant manager Carl Serrant," read a club statement.
"The board of directors has reluctantly taken the decision to relieve James and Carl of their duties.
"The board wishes to place on record its sincere thanks to James for his work, passion, and commitment since joining the Club last October, and to Carl for his efforts since his appointment in February of this year.
"We wish them every success in their future careers, and they will always be welcome at Rodney Parade.
"The club will now begin the process of recruiting a new first team manager.
"In the meantime, Sporting Director Darren Kelly will take charge of the first team for Saturday's match at Crawley Town supported by first team staff."
Rowberry took over from club legend Michael Flynn last October - with the Exiles' poor home form at the end seeing them fall out of play-off contention to finish 11th last season.
