Newmarket 2000 Guineas tips plus best bets for Punchestown, Goodwood, Doncaster, Thirsk, Uttoxeter and Hexham

It's been an exciting week of Punchestown action with the final day of the Festival on Saturday but there's plenty to look forward to.

And our man Garry Owen has picked out his selections and best bets for all the action.

LUXEMBOURG (3.40) can dispel Aidan O’Brien’s doubts in the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The Ballydoyle handler believes that the rising star may just lack the pace for this one-mile Classic.

The son of Camelot certainly looked a future stayer when slamming Tuwaiq on debut at Killarney.

However, he showed a nice turn of foot when bolting up in the Beresford at the Curragh next time.

The three-year-old oozed class once again when hammering Sissoko in the Futurity at Doncaster.

The colt is clearly world-class so he can emulate his brilliant sire by claiming this historic contest.

The Betfair Handicap is very competitive but I’m backing Eve Johnson Houghton's JUMBY (1.50).

The four-year-old looked useful when decisively defeating Jadwal over track and trip a year ago.

The colt then seemed to lose his way after flopping in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

However, he returned to form when outbattling the useful Albasheerat Salisbury in August.

The son of New Bay soon improved again when chinning The Attorney over seven furlongs here.

The speedster ran another blinder at this track when third in the Abernant on his recent return.

There is plenty more to come from this smart type who can put that run to good use down in class.

Charlie Wall is in magnificent form so TURNTABLE (2.25) can bag the tricky Suffolk Handicap.

The six-year-old showed his liking for this venue when cosily denying Silver Mission in May 2021.

The gelding produced his best shift since when crushing Jean Baptiste on his return a year on.

However, he really excelled himself when comfortably beating Celtic Art over course and distance.

The son of Pivotal is open to progress over 1m 1f so he can defy a 3lb hike at his favourite venue.

CAME FROM THE DARK (3.00) can shade another cracking renewal of the Palace House Stakes.

Ed Walker’s grey ended his handicap days by edging out the classy Garrus at Newbury in April 2021.

He then showed he belonged at Group 3 level when just denied by Lazuli in this race last season.

The gelding enjoyed swift compensation when edging out Arecibo in a similar event at Sandown.

The six-year-old goes well fresh so he can get the better of some talented rivals under Hollie Doyle.

TRITONIC (4.15) can pay for a few rounds by landing the tricky-looking Tony Calvin Handicap.

Alan King’s high-class hurdler can take full advantage of an attractive mark back on the level.

SPIRIT CATCHER (4.50) can see off some exciting opponents for thriving Mark Johnston.

The colt stayed on track with a pleasing defeat of Dirtyoldtown on his comeback at Musselburgh.

The three-year-old could easily run up a sequence so he can make light of a reasonable 4lb rise.

ANADORA (5.25) can shade the closing Betfair Handicap for ultra-shrewd Kevin Ryan.

The sprinter hit back with a game defeat of Loves Me Likearock over course and distance.

The filly showed a willing attitude that day so she can shrug off a well-deserved 4lb penalty.

ZANBAQ (2.40) can take control for thriving Roger Varian in the Conqueror Stakes at Goodwood.

The three-year-old was an unfancied 8-1 shot ahead of her debut on the all-weather at Kempton.

However, she made a mockery of those odds with an impressive defeat of the talented Washraa.

There is plenty more to come from this smart filly who can justify an instant step up to Listed level.

The Thirsk Hunt Cup is as trappy as ever but I’m siding with Tim Easterby’s DELGREY BOY (2.05).

The five-year-old ended a productive 2021 by comfortably denying Hayadh in a hot event at Redcar.

The gelding clearly needed the run when unplaced on his comeback at the same venue last month.

He soon left that effort behind when a terrific second to Excel Power in a warm Haydock handicap.

The son of Delegator remains in excellent form so he can go one better for his thriving connections.
