An 18-year-old girl who got married 10 days ago was found dead at her husband’s house at Manipuram near Koduvally in Kozhikode district on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Teja Lakshmi, wife of Jinu Krishna. The Balussery police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Police sources said the reason behind the death was unclear. A group of local residents sought a comprehensive investigation into the death.
According to police sources, the couple’s wedding took place without the consent of the girl’s family. She had been reported missing from her house the day before she got married. The police had summoned the couple to the station to settle the dispute with the family.
