Ahsoka was packed with Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels references, but there's one hiding in the background that might be very important to Ahsoka season 2.
The Easter egg has just been spotted by a fan on Twitter (H/T The HoloFiles), who points out that one of the winged creatures in the background on Peridea bears a strong resemblance to a flying animal seen in The Clone Wars. The creature can be seen in episode 6 of season 1, at about 24 minutes in.

To understand this fully, you need to know your Clone Wars Mortis lore. This arc sees Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi arrive on this mysterious planet to find three Force gods: the Father, the Son, and the Daughter. The Son represents the dark side, the daughter the light side, and the Father is the balance. The Father wishes for Anakin to take his place, but Anakin refuses, knocking down another domino on his path to becoming Darth Vader.
All three of the gods end up dead in the Mortis arc: the Son kills the Daughter, the Father then fatally wounds himself to remove the Son's powers, and then Anakin is able to kill the Son. But, the Daughter still has a presence through Morai, a convor bird that is particularly associated with Ahsoka – in The Clone Wars, the Daughter can transform into a griffin.
The Son is also able to transform into a bird-like entity, or gargoyle, however, and it's this form that looks very similar to the darker winged creature seen on Peridea. In the Ahsoka ending, Baylan Skoll is last seen standing on a statue of the Father, implying the Mortis gods (and the World Between Worlds) will have a huge part to play in the future of the show. So, now we know the Son continues to have a presence despite his death, which will surely be significant to season 2.
And, the bird is seen flying away in a scene featuring Sabine Wren, who has just unlocked Force powers of her own. Whether this is hinting at a dark side path for the Mandalorian Jedi or not remains to be seen.
There is no release date for Ahsoka season 2 just yet, but Star Wars Celebration 2025 revealed plenty of information about the upcoming instalment. Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin Skywalker, Grand Admiral Thrawn will face off with Admiral Ackbar, and Game of Thrones's Rory McCann will step in for the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan. Plus, a first look of sorts was even shown behind closed doors.
Next up for Star Wars is Maul – Shadow Lord, which debuts this April 6, and which will be followed on the big screen by The Mandalorian and Grogu on May 22.
