Widely prescribing a newer class of drug for type 2 diabetes could save thousands of lives a year, according to a study.
Researchers said once-a-day tablets called SGLT-2 inhibitors work “very well” in a wide range of people with the condition.
It comes after the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) found the drugs should be a first-line treatment option for patients in a major shake-up of diabetes care.
