Newcastle utilise tried and tested tactic as dynamic new partnership pick up where they left off

Miguel Almiron picked up where he left off in the Premier League on Monday as he found the net for the ninth time this season in a Newcastle United shirt. The Paraguayan, enjoying the best season of his Magpies career by a country mile, is proving unstoppable in front of goal as he bids to prove this isn't simply a flash in the pan.

Almiron's progress has been helped significantly by the guidance he has received from Eddie Howe. However, the relationship he has struck up with Bruno Guimaraes on and off the pitch is playing a huge part in the attacker's stellar form this term.

Guimaraes has helped himself to four assists in a Newcastle shirt, with Almiron scoring each of the four goals that followed. The duo have developed a fantastic understanding of how the other plays in only a short time playing in the same side.

A huge emphasis has been put on Almiron and Bruno linking up as a duo down the right-hand side for Newcastle, with the winger often seeking out his south American counterpart for a give-and-go over the top of the opposition defence. That tried and trusted tactic saw Almiron score a beauty of a volley away at Fulham earlier this season and was responsible for the 28-year-old's goal at the King Power Stadium on Monday.

Almiron, who looked to be brimming with confidence in the early stages of the Leicester win, picked up the ball, drove at the Foxes defence, before picking his head up and finding Bruno with a short pass. Instinctively, the former Atlanta man knew his Brazilian co-star would find him with a return ball if he made the run in behind.

It has worked time and time again this season, with Guimaraes' passing ability proving tricky to defend against in the Premier League. As mentioned, the pair are also close away from the pitch and have struck up a friendship in recent months.

"We train a lot, me and Miggy with the big combinations," Bruno told Amazon Sport after the game. "Me and Miggy deserve a lot because of what has happened in our life. We are really living our dreams.

"I'm so happy for the boys, myself and the gaffer as well. We are doing very well."
