Newcastle urged to take advantage of Real Madrid's six-man summer clear-out

Newcastle United have been put on red alert following the news that Real Madrid are planning a six-man exodus at the end of the current campaign, according to talkSPORT.

The La Liga outfit are looking to rebuild their squad and are said to be keen to offload the likes of out-of-contract trio Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Isco in the summer, along with Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz.

And with the Magpies certainly not short of money in the bank, former Sunderland striker Darren Bent has urged the club to sign Bale upon the expiry of his contract this summer in what would be a “superstar signing”.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Bent said: “He is incredible, Gareth Bale, we have seen it time and time again. That’s a superstar signing they are looking for. I think they ( Newcastle fans) would be happy with it.”

Bale proved that he is still a world-class player on Thursday night by scoring a brace to help Wales beat Austria 2-1 in their 2022 World Cup play-off semi-final, with the Dragons now just one game away from qualifying for the tournament in Qatar later this year.

Rob Page’s side will face either Scotland or Ukraine in a play-off final in June at the Cardiff City Stadium, as they aim to make their first appearance at a World Cup tournament since 1958, and the Wales manager has Bale to thank for getting them to this stage.

Should Newcastle move for Gareth Bale upon the expiry of his Real Madrid contract this summer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

And his performance last week would have been a welcome relief for the 32-year-old, who has endured yet another difficult season in the Spanish capital and continued his turbulent relationship with Madrid fans and the national media, although he looks set to leave this summer.

Bale has been labelled as the best player to ever come out of the British isles by many and 14 trophies during his time with the Galacticos, including two La Ligas and four Champions League s, certainly helps to back that up.

With that brace against Austria last week, it is clear that the winger still has plenty to offer and the Magpies could be tempted to lure him to the north east ahead of next season as they look to bring in players with plenty of world class pedigree.

There has been some speculation that Bale could consider retiring from club football but continue playing for Wales, but should the Dragons qualify for the World Cup later this year, the former Tottenham Hotspur man will want to remain in perfect condition ahead of the tournament.

With the Magpies able to sign him for nothing this summer once his Madrid contract expires, it is certainly a major benefit in attempting to bring him to the club, although his high wage demands will certainly burn a hole in the owners’ pockets.

But being the richest club in the world gives them the luxury of coping with that and should Bale look for a return to England, which remains likely, then the north east could very well be his next destination.
