Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe continued with his rotation policy as the Magpies looked to disrupt Liverpool's title challenge.
Fabian Schar, Jonjo Shelvey and Miguel Almiron all return to the Newcastle starting line-up with Jamaal Lascelles, Sean Longstaff and Miguel Almiron in from the start. Joe Willock survived Howe's changes but Chris Wood had to be content with a place on the bench.
Howe also recalled Paul Dummett back into the squad as he was named substitute for the clash at St James' Park. The Magpies had gone into the game looking for their seventh consecutive home victory in the Premier League and on the back of 10 wins from 14 games.
