Your Newcastle United transfer rumours for Sunday, March 12.
Mount offered new deal
Chelsea are prepared to offer Mason Mount £170k-a-week to stave off interest from Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester United. Uncertainty about the England international’s future has lingered around Stamford Bridge all season.
Todd Boehly’s volatile spending reportedly has Mount doubting his long-term future at the club. Now, the Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea will offer him a bumper new contract to dispel further transfer speculation.
Newcastle and Liverpool, in particular, are in the market for midfielders this summer. With just over one year on his contract, Mount could be available for a cut-price fee if contract talks stall.
Tottenham enter Scott race
Tottenham Hotspur will rival Newcastle for Bristol City wonderkid Alex Scott, according to CBS Sports. The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the Championship’s brightest prospects despite the Robins’ mediocre league campaign.
City are beginning to accept they will lose their key asset this summer, with Scott valued at around £25million. As is the case with many youth players, Newcastle are linked with the midfielder.
Reports in January suggested the Magpies were monitoring the youngster - but Spurs could swoop in first.
Tierney future in jeopardy
TeamTalk are claiming Kieran Tierney’s Arsenal future is in severe doubt amid Newcastle links. Recent reports have linked the Magpies and Aston Villa with the Gunners’ left-back.
“Kieran Tierney is the most interesting one for me,” reporter Ben Jacobs said. “He’s been playing left back in the Europa League, but in the Premier League Oleksandr Zinchenko has come in and obviously taken his place.
“Even though Tierney has made a healthy amount of appearances, he’s only started four Premier League games. With those minutes diminished, he will be assessing his options. My understanding with Tierney is that he held face-to-face talks with Arteta to try and better understand his future and was really just told to fight for his place and that he’s still valued.”
