Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours for Monday, April 4.
Newcastle open to summer Saint-Maximin sale
A summer rebuild is very much expected at St James’ Park as Eddie Howe, along with the club’s hierarchy, looks to vastly improve the squad. While that will largely involve looking to move on the majority of the ‘fringe players’ at the club, there could be one or two higher profile sales.
The Daily Mail have reported that Allan Saint-Maximin could be sold as part of the expected upheaval with United willing to listen to offers of around £50m. The report stated that Aston Villa are one of the clubs monitoring the Frenchman’s situation on Tyneside.

Rumours of a possible rift between him and Howe were largely put to bed as he was restored to the starting XI at Tottenham after not starting in the six preceding games.
Brighton goalkeeper on Toon summer radar
One of the positions that Howe has been keen to strengthen since arriving in North-east is between the sticks where he has hoped to add competition for Martin Dubravka. Late approaches for goalkeepers in the January transfer window were unsuccessful and similar targets are likely to be revisited at the end of the season.
According to The Sun, Robert Sanchez is top of the list when it comes to a potential new number one at St James’ Park. United are said to be readying a £20m offer for the 24-year-old but dealing with Brighton might prove awkward.
After signing Dan Burn in January, and the continued pursuit of Dan Ashworth as the new sporting director, the Seagulls will be expected to play hard ball in any discussions regarding Sanchez.
Leno also on list of possible Dubravka replacements
Arsenal’s Bernd Leno was one of the aforementioned January goalkeeper targets after there were reported talks between United and the Gunners for a potential loan move. The brief saga might not be finished there though as the former Germany international remains on Newcastle’s radar, according to Keith Downie.
He told Give Me Sport: “I could foreseeably see them, if they stay up, looking to bring in a new goalkeeper in the summer and changing things up in the goalkeeping department. I think Bernd Leno is someone they would be interested in given his experience in the Premier League already.”
