Newcastle United transfer rumours as Mason Mount hires new agent and Moussa Diary links re-emerge

Your Newcastle United transfer rumours for Sunday, March 19.

Rumours continue to Mount

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Mason Mount has hired a new agent ahead of a “likely” summer exit. Contract negotiations continue to stall between Chelsea and the England midfielder.

Newcastle and Liverpool are among a host of clubs monitoring Mount’s situation. Both teams will be aiming to bolster their midfield options this summer, with the 24-year-old wanting regular first-team football.

An influx of arrivals at Stamford Bridge has made the 24-year-old fearful about his long-term future. Romano claims Neil Fewings has been appointed as his agent.

Diaby links re-emerge

Moussa Diaby has re-emerged as a potential Newcastle target, according to 90min. Reports last summer continuously linked the Frenchman with a move to Tyneside.

However, a rumoured £60million price tag repelled Toon interest and Diaby stayed at Bayer Leverkusen. Since then, the Bundesliga outfit have endured an underwhelming campaign.

Leverkusen sit ninth in the league and risk missing out on European football. Doing so could prove key to Newcastle’s chances of signing the winger.

Lewa’s surprise

Barcelona superstar Robert Lewandowski has revealed Ousmane Dembele is the player who took him by surprise the most in training. Like Diaby, Dembele - spotted at the Stadium of Light in midweek - is a reported Toon target.

“He is the guy who from the first training session at Barcelona, I was very surprised (by),” Lewandowski told ESPN. “Positively surprised by how (much) talent (he has) and how good he is, how fast his feet are.

“For me, he is really the guy who can be the top of the top in his position. He is already but sometimes injuries (can get in the way like this January) he got an injury. But if he’s on the pitch, he can always do something with the ball.

“He can dribble so easy, so fast, like natural, pure talent. And this dribbling, if you see how he does it, how is it possible to be so fast? And you see that from the first training.”
