A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Sunday, 20 November.
Magpies told to break transfer budget for Mykhaylo Mudryk
Former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan believes Newcastle United should break the budget to try and sign Mykhaylo Mudryk in January. The Ukrainian sensation has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and the Magpies, but Shakhtar chief Darijo Srna warned potential suitors that the winger will cost €100million.
Newcastle have just smashed their previous transfer record with the signing of Alexander Isak in the summer and are being tipped to push for the Champions League places with them currently sitting third in the Premier League.
“Newcastle are in a really good position and they’re ahead of schedule in that project right now," Whelan told Football Insider. "But January is a notoriously difficult window to get transfers done. Shakhtar hold all the cards right now.
“If you desperately want him and need him, then Newcastle have to be prepared to break the budget. That’s what the January window is. You’re paying above and beyond, but if you’re serious about finishing in the top four – it could be worth it.
“If you leave it, he could go somewhere else. To get in there first and in January, I think Newcastle will have to cave to those demands.”
Newcastle tracking Real Betis star William Carvalho
Newcastle United are keeping an eye on Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho, with Arsenal and Leicester City also keen. That’s according to Fichajes, who say the English clubs are plotting a move for the 30-year-old Portuguese international.
The report claims Betis are looking to free up an ‘important economic margin' for new signings. There's no fee attached to the report, but the Foxes have been long term admirers of the midfielder.
Carvalho's future is said to be up in the air, with Betis already receiving offers for the defensive midfielder ahead of January.
