A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Wednesday, 3 August.
Newcastle United could benefit from Chelsea transfer tactic amid Armando Broja chase
Newcastle United could be handed a boost in their chase for Armando Broja thanks to Chelsea's transfer track record of loaning out players. Broja is someone Newcastle remain interested in as the Magpies look to strengthen their attack before deadline day at the end of August.
Recent history suggests Chelsea have no qualms about loaning players out to fellow Premier League sides. Conor Gallagher, Billy Gilmour, Michy Batshuayi, Kurt Zouma, Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Romelu Lukaku are all examples of players who the Blues have sent out on loan to get game time in the top flight of English football.
And Broja is no different. The 20-year-old Albanian international impressed last term at Southampton, so much so Thomas Tuchel wanted to take a look at him in pre-season. However, there has been mixed messaging when it comes to Broja's future.
Magpies planning 'fresh Chelsea raid after Timo Werner U-turn'
The Mirror claims Newcastle United will head back to Chelsea to try and sign Callum Hudson-Odoi after an approach with Timo Werner is set to be rejected. The Blues forward had been linked with a loan move to St. James' Park this summer as Eddie Howe looks to bolster his attacking options this summer.
However, the German forward now looks set to favour a move back to Germany with RB Leipzig with Sky Germany claiming talks with his former club were in "full swing." Werner flourished during his four years with the Bundesliga club, scoring 95 times in 159 appearances in all competitions.
His final season with Leipzig saw hit net an impressive 34 goals in 45 games which earned him his £47.5 million move to Stamford Bridge. The Magpies are expected to turn their attention to Hudson-Odoi having already been linked with the winger earlier this summer.
Leicester react to Newcastle's latest James Maddison transfer bid with familiar Chilwell message
Leicester City have reiterated that James Maddison is not for sale after Newcastle United's latest offer for the attacking midfielder.
Newcastle had a £40m bid rejected for Maddison over the weekend but, rather than being deterred, tellingly, the Magpies have since returned with an improved offer. However, ChronicleLive understands Leicester are adamant Maddison is not leaving after the 'manager made our position clear - he's not for sale'.
Yet Newcastle have clearly sensed an opportunity at a time when Leicester are the only Premier League side who have failed to sign a single player. The Foxes could do with a windfall after struggling to offload a number of high-earning fringe players to make room in their squad for new additions.
