Newcastle United transfer rumours as Magpies eye Harry Maguire loan but Manchester United plot sale

A round-up of the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Monday, June 12.

Newcastle eye Harry Maguire loan move

Alan NIxon claims Newcastle United are plotting a loan move for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire this summer. The Red Devils are looking to sell Maguire on a permanent deal and a loan to the Magpies would be viewed as a financial favour to a direct rival - something they wouldn't consider.

Erik Ten Hag's side would be willing to sell the England international if the price is right, according to the report. Nixon also claims Aston Villa area watching proceedings closely having also qualified for European football this season.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been tentatively linked with Maguire but are yet to make a move while Leicester City's relegation has put an end to any possible return to the King Power.

Sporting defender keen on a move to Manchester United

O Jogo claims Sporting defender Gonçalo Inácio has more interest in a move to Manchester United than Newcastle United this summer. Both parties are keen on a move for the 21-year-old Portuguese international, but the recent sale of Manuel Ugarte to PSG means Sporting are reluctant to sell.

Inacio is said to be attentive to any offers this summer and the Magpies are still keeping a close eye on him, according to the report. However, it adds, the defender was not 'aroused' by a previous offer from Newcastle, but does not make the same reference to the Red Devils

Inacio has a reported release clause worth €45m which would mean any bid that matches that value would be given the green light from the club. However, Sporting are hoping to negotiate a new deal with a release clause raised to €60m.
