Newcastle United transfer rumours as links to Valencia forward Goncalo Guedes emerge

Here are your Newcastle United transfer rumours on Monday, August 8.

Newcastle keen on hijacking Wolves deal for Goncalo Guedes

Newcastle United are said to be monitoring Wolves linked Portuguese forward Goncalo Guedes this summer. It was recently confirmed by Valencia boss Gennaro Gattuso that Guedes would be leaving La Liga, with Wolves mooted as a likely destination for the 25-year-old given their propensity for signing Portuguese players.

While it seems the interest from Wolves is concrete, Newcastle have also emerged as a potential destination for Guedes, who has won 32 caps for Portugal. According to Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari, Newcastle have held direct talks with Valencia over Guedes.

Longari tweeted: "Newcastle and Wolverhampton are interested in Gonçalo Guedes talks ongoing with Valencia". He then later followed that up with another tweet which said: "Guedes has an agreement on personal terms almost completed with Wolves. Newcastle are also on direct talks with Valencia."

Magpies plot move for RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko

While Newcastle United's interest in RB Salzburg forward Benjamin Sesko is nothing new, reports this weekend claimed the Magpies are now ready to table a bid for the teenage striker. The Northern Echo claims Newcastle are set to test the Austrian sides resolve over Sesko, who has been courted this summer by some of Europe's biggest clubs.

With so much hype surrounding the 19-year-old, it would likely take a lofty fee for Salzburg to part with the Slovenian forward, especially with the season now having already started. Salzburg are said to be commanding a €50m fee for Sesko, but Newcastle are reportedly weighing up an offer of around €30m with a series of clauses and add-ons that would bump up the overall deal.

Callum Hudson-Odoi set to leave Stamford Bridge on-loan this summer

Callum Hudson-Odoi looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and could be an option for Newcastle United to explore in the loan market. Newcastle are keen on adding talent out-wide this summer but have seen their efforts frustrated in the transfer market to do so.

Sky Sports have reported the 21-year-old's representatives have been given permission to seek a loan move away from Stamford Bridge which would given Hudson-Odoi some much needed game time. Newcastle have been linked with Hudson-Odoi in recent weeks, and given his ability to operate on the right-hand side of a three pronged attack, a move for the Chelsea winger could be an astute one for the Magpies to make this summer.

Newcastle linked forward Timo Werner set to re-join RB Leipzig

One forward who is unlikely to turning out at St James' Park this season is Chelsea striker Timo Werner, who is set to re-join RB Leipzig this week. Werner had been rumoured to be a target for Newcastle this summer, with a loan move mooted at one point.

However football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has suggested Werner will now return to the Bundesliga side he left in June 2020 on a permanent deal. Romano tweeted: "Timo Werner deal will be completed on Monday. RB Leipzig and Chelsea have full agreement, permanent deal confirmed as revealed yesterday - no loan with buy option. #CFC All parties will prepare documents in order to sign the agreement next week."
