Ivan Toney links re-emerge as Newcastle United look to bolster attack
A return to St James' Park for Brentford striker Ivan Toney could be on the cards this summer.
Toney spent just over three years on Newcastle's books, but was never able to break into their first team ranks. He left Tyneside in August 2018, moving to Peterborough. And his performances for the Posh earned him a move to Brentford, where he has also impressed.
Last term saw the 26-year-old bag 12 goals and five assists in the Premier League for the Bees in their maiden Premier League campaign.
And the Sun reports Toney has re-emerged on Newcastle's summer transfer radar after they were priced out of moves for other targets.
It is reported Toney would cost around £30m. And alongside Newcastle's interest, Leeds are also said to be keen on the Brentford forward too.
Jack Harrison gives unconvincing response to questions around his Leeds United future
Leeds United winger Jack Harrison gave a rather underwhelming response to a question about his future with the Whites following their 1-0 pre-season defeat to Aston Villa.
The 25-year-old has been continuously linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer with the Magpies holding Harrison in high regard.
When asked about his Leeds future and whether he would be staying up at Elland Road this summer, Harrison said: "We'll see, we'll see what happens."
While Leeds boss Jesse Marsch did step in after to field a question regarding Harrison's comments, it was hardly a convincing response with the Premier League season hurtling down the track.
Newcastle do need to add quality out wide this summer. Expect this one to rumble on...
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel gives update on Armando Broja amid interest from Newcastle and West Ham
Thomas Tuchel has revealed he wants to give Chelsea forward Armando Broja a chance in pre-season.
Broja, who impressed on loan last term with Southampton, has been heavily linked to a move away from Stamford Bridge. Newcastle United and West Ham United have both been credited with interest in the 20-year-old striker this summer.
But while rumours circulate around Broja's future, Tuchel reiterated at the weekend he wants to give Broja a chance in Chelsea's first team this summer, which could leave clubs who are interested in the Albanian striker playing the waiting game.
"Armando is our player first of all and we have, at the moment, no interest in selling him," Tuchel said.
"He is here to make an impression after he was on loan in Southampton. That’s his situation from where we look up front.
"It’s good if there’s interest as it shows us there’s talent and potential. It shows us that he is in the position to impress and become a Chelsea player."
"When will he become a Chelsea player? "No one knows but hopefully as soon as possible.
"He got injured and there’s a delay for him which is never nice because a young player should normally make an impression from the first minute in pre-season. Now we have a bit of a delay in that but that’s the situation."
