Your Newcastle United transfer round-up for Wednesday, July 27.
Anderson to stay next season
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has decided to keep Elliot Anderson instead of sending him out on loan, amid interest from a host of Championship and Scottish clubs, according to the Telegraph.
Anderson had been linked with Championship sides West Brom, Bristol City, Luton Town, Millwall and Huddersfield Town, along with League One outfits Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol Rovers. He had also received attention from Scotland with Hearts and Hibernian also interested in the Scottish U21 international.
The Magpies were undecided on his future but the latest reports suggest he's firmly in Howe’s plans for next season. Anderson has consolidated his successful loan spell in League Two with Bristol Rovers with a string of exciting performances in pre-season for Newcastle.

Newcastle suffer McNeil transfer blow
Everton are in talks to sign Newcastle United target Dwight McNeil and are hopeful of agreeing a deal, according to the Telegraph’s John Percy.
The Sun reported on Sunday that Newcastle were ready to switch to their attention to the Burnley winger if Leeds refused to reduce their valuation for Jack Harrison.
Leeds have rejected a bid from the Magpies for Harrison and want £35 million for the 25-year-old. A winger has been a priority for Newcastle this summer but they have experienced great difficulty securing a wide man.
Pepe 'open' to Newcastle switch
90 Min’s Graeme Bailey has claimed that Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe would be ‘open’ to a move to Newcastle United. Pepe has featured for only 180 minutes in the Premier League since the turn of the year and hasn’t started a league game for Arsenal since October 2021.
Pepe joined Arsenal from LOSC Lille for a club record fee of £72m but has fallen down the pecking order with Mikel Arsenal preferring Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe.
He has scored 16 goals and provided nine assists across his 80 league appearances for the Gunners and also lifted the FA Cup in 2020. Bailey, talking on 90 Min’s ‘Talking Transfers Show’ revealed: “I think Nicolas Pepe is one of the more interesting ones. You’ve got a player who cost over £70m. I thought it was a little bit rich at the time but he was definitely a £50-60m player.
“He’s got a lot of potential and I do know from what I’ve been told [by] Newcastle and people near the player, that Pepe is open to this, he’s open to any team in the Premier League.
Bailey added: “He wants to show himself that he’s not a failure and when you’ve got someone hungry like that, I think he’ll appeal to Eddie Howe. It’s worth keeping an eye on this one.”
