Newcastle United transfer rumours: Seven-man summer clearout and owners refuse to pay over odds

Your Newcastle United transfer round-up for Sunday, March 6.

Toon clearout in summer

Miguel Almiron will head a seven-player exodus at St James’ Park this summer, according to The Daily Mail.

While the prospect of signing star players excites supporters, the reality is that several already on the book need moved on to create wriggle room on the wage bill.

Former record signing Almiron - who arrived three years ago for £24million - has struggled for game time under Eddie Howe, with the resurgence of Ryan Fraser and Joelinton further stifling his opportunities.

Other players made surplus to requirements are Dwight Gayle, Jamal Lewis, Ciaran Clark, Isaac Hayden, Karl Darlow and Emil Krafth.

Newcastle ‘warned off’ by Diaby price tag

French outlet L’Equipe claim Bayer Leverkusen want £100million for Toon target Moussa Diaby.

The hefty demands have scared the Magpies off who, just like in January, will not allow themselves to be pressurised in the transfer market.

Diaby has come of age in the Bundesliga this season - bagging 12 goals in 22 games - putting the likes of Newcastle, Man Utd and Liverpool on high alert.

The winger is contracted until 2025, allowing the German club to demand a sizable fee, but clubs are unlikely to commit to a three-figure sum.

Giovanni Simeone rules out Premier League move

Hellas Verona hitman Giovanni Simeone has ruled out a move to the Premier League this summer.

The Argentine striker, son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego, has attracted top-flight interest - including from Newcastle - after scoring 15 goals in Serie A this season.

However, the 26-year-old insists he is happy in Italy and is not seeking to force a move at the end of the campaign.

“Me and my family are planning to stop and live here,” Simeone told L’Arena.

“It is different. I feel like I’ve always played here and I’ve been here for less than a year!

“Verona is perfect. Not too big, nor too small. People have great respect and I feel I belong a little to this wonderful place.

“As for Hellas, I’ve been saying that from my first day here (that I want to stay). I’d like the club to redeem me.”
