Here's a round-up of your Newcastle United transfer rumours on Wednesday, 18 January.
Magpies back in for Rafa Benitez target Alassane Plea
L’Equipe claim Newcastle United have contacted Borussia Monchengladbach over the availability of Alassane Plea.
The Magpies were interested in the Frenchman under Rafa Benitez's tenure at St. James' Park.
Newcastle were rumoured to have placed a £20million offer back in 2018, but a move to Tyneside would not transpire.
The 28-year-old has since fallen out of favour at Die Fohlen but has been involved in 61 goals in his 127 appearances at the Bundesliga outfit.
He's scored 40 goals at Borussia Park with 21 assists.
Diego Carlos 'tells Sevilla he wants to leave'
Diego Carlos has told Sevilla he wants to leave the club with Newcastle waiting in the wings.
That's according to Sky Sports, who claim the Brazilian has told the club he wants to move on from the Spanish outfit.
It's the latest development in Eddie Howe's pursuit of the centre-back, after reports in Spain claim Sevilla had rejected the Magpies latest advances.
Newcastle were told it would take considerably more that the £25million offered for Carlos' services, with some outlets in Spain claiming it could take twice that amount to see Sevilla part ways.
The defender's representatives have been taken aback by the Magpies pursuit of the player.
Todd Cantwell move to Tyneside 'unlikely'
Todd Cantwell is now 'unlikely' to move to St. James' Park in January, according to recent reports.
The Norwich City midfielder fell out of favour with the Canaries former boss Daniel Farke, and has struggled for game time since Dean Smith arrived at Carrow Road.
Part of that has been down to injuries, but the Norwich boss is hopeful he'll remain on Tyneside.
Keith Downie told GIVEMESPORT: "The noises we're hearing is that Cantwell is now unlikely to happen.
"I think there was an interest in the player. Cantwell would've been a purchase I think at about £15m."
