Sherwood hopeful of Lingard move
Tim Sherwood has urged Jesse Lingard to demand a loan move to Tyneside this month.
The Man Utd misfit has not started a Premier League game in Man Utd colours for over two years and has attracted interest from Newcastle.
Former Spurs boss Sherwood thinks Lingard should join Newcastle… but only on a short-term deal while the threat of relegation looms.
Speaking to Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday, he said: “I would go there and certainly take on the challenge of playing football for Newcastle.
“But I wouldn't be signing any long-term contracts away from Man Utd because I want to see who's joining the queue at the end of the season.”
Brighton ‘braced’ for new Burn bid
The Guardian claim Brighton are preparing for another approach from Newcastle before the window slams shut.
The Magpies have already had bids of £7million and £10million rejected as the new owners frantically try to sign a centre-back before Monday’s deadline.
Burn, born in Blyth, has been a stalwart for Graham Potter’s side this season but is rumoured to be keen on a return to Newcastle - who released the defender as an 11-year-old.
