Newcastle United transfer gossip as ex-Premier League star makes Cristiano Ronaldo finance claim

Here are your Newcastle United transfer rumours and gossip on Thursday, December 1st.

Former Premier League midfielder believes Cristiano Ronaldo will land at St. James' Park

Former Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko believes Cristiano Ronaldo will stay in England when his dramatic exit from Manchester United and the ensuing transfer saga finally ends - and it'll see him land at St. James' Park.

The Portuguese international reportedly turned a £300 million offer from one Saudi Arabian club with another - Al Nassr - openly sending a formal proposal to CR7 worth a staggering £172 million per season.

Speaking to Italian outlet Il Bianconero, Sissoko highlighted the fact that no one else in Europe would be able to compete with the money offered to him by various Saudi Arabian clubs.

"In my opinion, he will stay in England and I see him at Newcastle. Only they have the money to be able to afford him in Europe. At least, among the teams interested in him."

What Sissoko fails to take into account is that Ronaldo simply wouldn't fit the model Eddie Howe and the Magpies are going for after their own Saudi investment - bringing in new, fresh talent to invest into over a long period of time rather than already-established stars.

Newcastle United could miss out on Brazilian wonderkid after Premier League rivals swoop in for deal

Newcastle United might potentially miss out on a deal that has been in the works for months now after Premier League rivals Chelsea have reportedly swooped in for Brazilian wonderkid Andrey Santos.

According to French website Le10 Sport, the Blues are now in pole position for the 18-year-old who has shone for Vasco De Gama this season.

Other European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain as well as the Magpies already have a documented history with Santos, having watched his progress from afar for a long time but they might've taken too long in their assessment.

Although Vasco De Gama have reportedly set the asking price for the star at £35 million, Le10 Sport believes Graham Potter's side could acquire his services for as little as £15 million and after the Blues brought in the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina and Cesare Casedei over the summer transfer window, it could spell out what Potter is trying to build at his new club.
