Newcastle United transfer circus starts with report of £27m swoop for Premier League flop

Newcastle United are going to be linked with a whole host of players in the coming weeks, such is the club's new wealth and position. Lots of the links will be nothing more than speculation and already the transfer talk is starting with the Magpies reportedly 'interested' in bringing Everton flop Moise Kean to St James' Park, according to Juve Dipendenza.

Kean joined the Toffees from Juventus in a deal believed to be worth £27 million three years ago but struggled to adapt to Premier League football, scoring just four goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.

He has since embarked on loan spells with PSG and Juventus. Kean's return to the Old Lady has seen the 22-year-old enjoy a slight upturn in form prior to the World Cup break having scored four goals in as many Serie A outings.

Latest transfer rumours now suggest that Newcastle could hand Kean a Premier League lifeline but may have to part ways with a key figure if any deal is to be completed.

Despite being permanently contracted to Everton, the article claims that Juventus are afraid of losing Kean's services and will demand a replacement if he is to depart the Allianz Stadium. They are believed to be keen on signing Allan Saint-Maximin as part of an agreement to allow Kean to head to the North East.

It would, however, come as a surprise if Newcastle are willing to sanction an exit for Saint-Maximin, who has, arguably, been the Magpies' biggest attacking threat since joining from Nice in 2019.

Injury issues have hampered the Frenchman's ability to make an impact this season. He has made just seven Premier League appearances, scoring a sublime volley in the 1-1 draw against Wolves. Whilst we file this one in the speculation category, Newcastle's third transfer window under the ownership of PIF is guaranteed to carry a sense of anticipation and intrigue.
