Michael Bridges "rates" Conor Gallagher and believes Newcastle United should make a move for the forgotten man before the transfer window slams shut. The Blues' outcast, a player understood to be on the Magpies' radar, has endured a tough season at Stamford Bridge.
An impressive campaign on loan at Crystal Palace last year was expected to propel him into the first-team picture but, due to the Chelsea's lavish spending, he has fallen down Graham Potter’s pecking order. The arrival of Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix this month is only going to diminish his opportunities further.
A trio of Blues rejects have been linked with a move to St James' Park. Hakim Ziyech and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are players who are also reported to be attracting interest from Newcastle.

Eddie Howe has proven he can rejuvenate a stalled Premier League career since his Toon appoinment. Fabian Schar, Joelinton and Miguel Almiron were all destined for the Tyneside scrapheap before the 45-year-old worked his magic on the training round.
Bruno Guimaraes' near miss last weekend could have been fatal for United's season and moved signing a new midfielder further up the transfer priorities. Speaking to the GegenPod, ex-Magpies striker Bridges backed Gallagher to be a success at Newcastle.
“The other one I would love to see is Conor Gallagher,” he said. “I really rate him and like what he was all about at Crystal Palace when he got a lovely run of games in that midfield.
“It would be nice to see somebody because, with (Bruno) Guimaraes being out, I'm sure they're going to get another midfielder who has that attacking flair. So watch this space.”
