Newcastle United supporters tell Eddie Howe their preferred starting XI for Liverpool clash

Newcastle fans have wrung the changes to the starting XI that beat Norwich 3-0 last weekend ahead of their clash with Liverpool on Saturday. Last time out, Eddie Howe opted to bring club captain Jamaal Lascelles, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock and Jacob Murphy into the fold, whilst also moving Joelinton up top away from his now traditional left central midfield role.

The result was an impressive 3-0 win in which Newcastle never looked like losing. A Joelinton brace and an delightful dink from Bruno Guimaraes saw the Magpies climb up to ninth in the Premier League table, an impressive feat given their start to the 2021/22 campaign.

However, with Liverpool coming to town, fans are expecting a much changed line up to the side that beat Norwich in impressive fashion.

Martin Dubravka is the obvious choice in net, while the fans have called for Fabian Schar to come back into the starting XI in place of Lascelles.

It's been a good week on Tyneside for Swiss defender Schar, who signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay at St James' Park till 2024. And Emil Krafth, Dan Burn and Matt Targett make up the rest of the fans XI back four.

In midfield, the are starting berths handed to Bruno Guimaraes, Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Willock meaning that Joelinton misses out despite having a tremendous performance in front of goal against Norwich.

Up front, both Miguel Almiron and Chris Wood return in attack while Allan Saint-Maximin rounds out the starting XI on the left-wing.

Newcastle United Fan XI: (4-3-3) Dubravka; Krafth, Burn, Schar, Targett; Guimaraes, Shelvey, Willock; Almiron, Wood, Saint-Maximin
