Newcastle United supporters have taken to social media to offer their views on the narrow 1-0 defeat to Chelsea. A late stunner from Kai Havertz clinched three points for the Blues, although decisions made by referee David Coote have been placed under scrutiny by swathes of the Magpies fanbase.
Havertz was shown a yellow card in the first-half for an elbow on Newcastle defender Dan Burn, before VAR assessed the decision and deemed it correct. It was not the only decision which drew the ire of supporters, many of whom were displeased when Newcastle were not awarded a penalty after Jacob Murphy went down under close attention from Trevoh Chalobah.
VAR returned to take a look at the incident but did not overturn Coote's decision to not award Newcastle a penalty. Amid grievances about decisions, there were also post-match tweets from supporters praising their side following a gutsy display at Stamford Bridge.

@ChineseGeordie7 tweeted: "So proud of the boys! Matched the European champions for so long. #NUFC onto the next one! Bound to lose at some point but as always, 'we don't demand a team that wins, we demand a team that tries'.
@itsfrankielane tweeted: " #NUFC [were] so unfortunate. Thought officiating was shocking for both teams but some big calls not going Newcastle's way."
@iamheavyhands tweeted: "Horrible way to get beat. He [Havertz] shouldn't have been on the pitch to score. The man's [Burn] a giant, so to reach his head his elbow had to be have been recklessly higher. Should have had a pen. But what an amazing turnaround we have had. To be disappointed with that says it all."
@austen_89 tweeted: "Such a shame, definitely deserved something from the game. Questions need to be asked about these decisions. We go again!"
@DBelisle22 tweeted: "Unlucky not to get a point today. Feel we played very steady for the majority of them game. Do I think Havertz should have been sent off? No. Do I think Murphy was fouled and we should’ve had a penalty? Absolutely."
