Newcastle United have smashed their transfer record by signing Swedish international striker Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad.
The 22-year-old forward has joined the Magpies for a club record £58m fee and has signed a six-year deal.
Isak was reportedly Newcastle's number one target this summer. They were mooted to be interested in bringing the Swede to St James' Park earlier in the transfer window but appeared to have been put off by Real Sociedad's asking price.
However, with striker Callum Wilson now out for a few weeks after picking up a hamstring injury against Manchester City last weekend, Newcastle acted swiftly to land Isak in a record breaking deal.

The striker is Newcastle's fourth major signing of the summer, joining Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman in making the switch to Tyneside.
And following his unveiling at St James' Park, Newcastle supporters have taken to Twitter to voice their delight at the signing of the Swedish international, who could feature against Wolves this Sunday.
