Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists there is no way his Reds side can continue to keep up with the likes of Newcastle United, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain.
All three clubs are gulf state owned with plenty of resources behind them. Newcastle's finance were catapulted into a new stratosphere this time last year when they were taken over by Saudi Arabia's PIF.
While they have spent big in the form of Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman and Alexander Isak, the reality is Newcastle are just scratching the surface when it comes to the amount of money they are able to spend on recruitment.

On Friday, Klopp claimed Liverpool "cannot act like" Newcastle, Man City or PSG. While Liverpool have spent plenty in recent years, which includes spending around £80m on Darwin Nunez this summer, the Reds almost need to hit on every transfer possible to allow them to compete against the wealth of the trio.
"What does Liverpool do? We cannot act like them," said Klopp. "There are three clubs in world football who can do what they want financially.
"I heard now that at Newcastle somebody [sporting director Dan Ashworth] said 'there is no ceiling for this club'. Yes! He is right. He is absolutely right. There is no ceiling for Newcastle. Congratulations, but other clubs have ceilings."
And over on Facebook, Newcastle fans gave their thoughts on Klopp's comments.
Gary Holmes wrote: "A quick Google search shows Liverpool have spent over £700million on players since he became manager, what's he whinging about?"
Rob Melling wrote: "Liverpool paid more for Nunez than City did for Haaland. I agree City have the best team in the world but this is because they improved it before Financial Fair Play was properly implemented. Take Newcastle a good few years to get close to City. All clubs spend big on players whether that means having to sell to buy or not.
Mark Thrower wrote: "He's not wrong though. I'm very pleased Newcastle are where we are but if another club had been bought out we'd be having exactly the same moan."
Greg Surtees wrote: "No ceiling yet we’ve been very clear about sticking within our FFP limits."
Stewie Williams wrote: "Seriously is he a manager or a politician. I used to like Klopp when he first came to Liverpool but over the last season or so he's seems to be very bitter, has a big chip on his shoulder. Be different he was in charge of either NUFC, City or PSG."
