Newcastle United supporters have thanked Ciaran Clark for his services in a black and white shirt after sealing a season-long loan with Championship side Sheffield United. The Magpies defender was left out of Eddie Howe's 25-man Premier League squad in January.
The Republic of Ireland international was a mainstay in the Newcastle starting XI as they won promotion from the Championship under Rafa Benitez, but has struggled in recent seasons. His last appearance for the Magpies came in a 1-0 win away at Leeds United.
The 32-year-old has made 129 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and will move to Bramall Lane for the 2022-23 campaign. Newcastle supporters have joked that Clark's sending off against Norwich has helped them unearth the best midfielder in the Premier League after Joelinton dropped into deeper role, with the Magpies down to 10 men.

@NUFCblogcouk tweeted: "He's had a tough few seasons, but Clark played a key role in getting us promoted back in 2016/17 & rarely let us down during the Rafa Benitez era, chipping in with a few big goals and stepping in when needed while we were battling to stay up."
