Newcastle United supporters' 'embarrassing' verdict after Bournemouth draw

Newcastle United's winless run continues after a 1-1 draw with newly promoted Bournemouth at St. James' Park this afternoon. The black and white faithful have not pulled any punches with their scathing verdict after the game.

They've branded the performance 'Shockingly bad', 'Embarrassing' and 'Pretty grim' after a VAR call handed them a lifeline. Craig Pawson was sent to the monitor after Kieran Trippier's cross was adjudged to have hit the hand of a Cherries' defender, with Alexander Isak smashing home from the spot.

However, it was an afternoon where Newcastle appeared to run out of ideas in the final third. The loss of Allan Saint-Maximin a key factor that fans picked up on at full-time.

Here's what Newcastle United fans had to say on the draw with Bournemouth:

@AngelNUFC said: "Terrible, first game in a while I thought we would get some points, and we hardly even troubled the keeper, need a winger and Allan Saint-Maximin and Shelvey back."

@mellamosami tweeted: "Really disappointing result! When Saint-Maximin isn’t there the offence loses energy and creativity. The spark and the danger he constantly provides were totally missing today. I can’t imagine fans here wanting him gone when they couldn’t buy a decent RW this summer. Not enough."

@JerryMcG12 said: "It doesn't even matter if you're running with Lewandowski or Haaland at striker, nobody would be able to do anything with the constant poor play from the wingers."

@milessteven001 said: "Must do better. We’re still a couple of players short of being a really good team, particularly going forward. We get the ball into the final third quickly enough but then we inevitably slow things down and are far too easy to defend against. Work rate on its own isn’t enough."

@DanneMedSkagget tweeted: "Shockingly bad. Poor all around. At least 5 players needs to leave in January. We can't afford having Championship/League One quality getting time on the pitch. Awful, awful performance. Shame on you."

@Alcraid90 said: "Pretty grim that. Almiron needs to play on the left if he’s gonna constantly cut in."

@HarryStrawson said: "Embarrassing. Why can’t we score from open play?"
