Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar has been left out of the Switzerland squad for clashes against Belarus and Israel.
The Swiss FA claim that Schar has not been selected due to being "injured" ahead of Newcastle's clash with Nottingham Forest. Schar missed the 2-0 defeat against Man City after a head wound suffered at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final but returned against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Schar's injury was not mentioned in today's Press conference and he was pictured training yesterday, it remains to be seen whether he is around at the City Ground tomorrow night. A Swiss FA statement read: "Compared to the World Cup squad, Fabian Schär, Fabian Frei (both injured)."
Reports in Switzerland also say Schar has chosen to stay on Tyneside because of a foot injury.

Switzerland boss Murat Yakin said: "The competitive situation is fierce in many positions. We have young players who have made a very positive development over the last few months and are in good shape. I am convinced that they are ready to take us further."
Schar was replaced at Man City by Jamaal Lascelles who performed well at the Etihad Stadium. If selected at Nottingham Forest he would be leading the team out against his former club.
