As transfer speculation continues to swirl around Newcastle United, the final days of the January window will prove interesting for both Magpies supporters and fans of drama.
Two signings have arrived at St James' Park since the Mike Ashley era was brought to an end by a takeover, with Bruno Guimaraes expected to become the third.
The benefits of bolstering were on full display in the recent win over Leeds United, during which Kieran Tripper emerged as a dangerous outlet in the second-half and looked assured defensively throughout.

Only time will tell if Newcastle get some late deals over the line but with deadline day looming, ChroniceLive have taken a trip down memory lane and reflected on every final day addition made over the last decade.
January 2013:
Kevin Mbabu
The defender has gone on to thrive in his career and currently plies his trade in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg but St James' Park never saw the best of him.
A late addition in the 2013 January window, he went on to make just five appearances for the club but saw his stock rise after returning to his homeland of Switzerland with Young Boys.
His form landed him a spot in the Switzerland senior squad and before earning him a move to Germany.
January 2016:
Seydou Doumbia
Newcastle supporters could have been forgiven for being excited when the club signed Doumbia on a loan deal until the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
He had been prolific with Young Boys in Switzerland and CSKA Moscow in Russia, which had earned him a deal with Serie A side Roma.
However, three substitute appearances totalling 29 minutes on the pitch was all he managed in England and Newcastle were relegated to the Championship.
Summer 2016:
Christian Atsu
Recruited on loan to help the club push for promotion back to the Premier League, Atsu ended his first season at the club with a trophy when the Magpies won the Championship title.
Despite initially being used fairly regularly in the top flight, he was gradually moved away from the spotlight and left in 2021 having made just one competitive appearance in his final season with the club.
January 2018:
Islam Slimani
Injury disrupted Slimani's stay at the club and he will be remembered by many for his needless kick out at West Browmich Albion's Craig Dawson, which landed the forward a suspension and ended his season early.
He arrived with a goalscoring record that was more than respectable but as was the case with Doumbia, Magpies supporters never got to see what the Algerian was truly capable of.
Martin Dubravka
The 33-year-old can certainly be considered one of the club's better deadline day additions as he has proven to be a reliable figure between the sticks.
He was a trusted lieutenant of both Steve Bruce and Rafael Benitez and has made 113 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies since joining on an initial loan from Sparta Prague in 2018.
Summer 2018:
Federico Fernandez
Newcastle made a shrewd addition on the final day of the summer 2018 window with the addition of Fernandez.
He arrived as a defensive reinforcement who had previously worked under Benitez and although he has not been used as a regularly this season, the Argentine has proven to be a dependable centre-back in his time on Tyneside.
January 2019:
Miguel Almiron
Newcastle handed the Paraguay international a five-and-a-half year deal on the final day of the January 2019 transfer window and his pace made him a key component of the attack under Benitez.
His influence waned under Bruce but will be hoping he can be revived under the tutelage of Howe.
Antonio Barecca
The left-back joined on loan from Monaco on deadline day in January 2019 but a brief cameo in a Premier League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur was all he was allowed in a Newcastle shirt.
Summer 2019:
Andy Carroll
Considered by some as Newcastle's prodigal son, Carroll returned to the club he climbed the ranks of on deadline day in August 2019.
Two seasons back at St James' Park yielded just one Premier League goal and the romance of the move quickly petered out, leading to his departure in 2021.
Emil Krafth
The defender arrived on the same day as Carroll with experience of top flight football in France, Italy and Sweden but has had a tendency to underhelm.
There have been flashes of ability and he recently impressed in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United but the 27-year-old has been unable to become indispensable.
October 2020:
Rodrigo Vilca
Signed on the final day of a summer window which was extended into October as a result of the delayed start the season, Vilca's only experience of senior football in England has been provided by a loan spell at Doncaster Rovers.
He is back at St James' Park following a brief spell with the League One strugglers, during which he showed glimpses of his talent but struggled to handle the cut and thrust of the third tier.
January 2021:
Joe Willock
Arguably the most astute deadline day signing of the decade, Willock lit up the Premier League with eight goals after joining the Magpies on loan from Arsenal.
He earned a permanent move in the summer and although the goals have dried up, he has remained a regular fixture in the starting XI.
Summer 2021:
Santiago Munoz
The teenager arrived on loan on the final day of the 2021 summer window to much fanfare due to the similarity between his name and the fictional star of movies 'Goal!' and 'Goal 2: Living the Dream', Santiago Munez.
He has recently been involved in first-team training although is still waiting for his senior debut.
