It's safe to say the current mood on Tyneside is one of euphoria - and there's only been one Premier League game played! Newcastle United got their season off to a flying start on the opening day of the new Premier League campaign with a dominant 2-0 win over newly promoted Nottingham Forest.
A wonder strike from Fabian Schar, coupled with a deftly impressive Callum Wilson goal helped Eddie Howe's side claim all three points at a raucous St James' Park. In truth, had the Magpies been more clinical, the scoreline could have been much greater than 2-0.
But all in all, it was an excellent start to the season for Newcastle. There's still plenty of time left in the transfer window for Newcastle to do some more business.

The club would like to add two attackers to bolster Howe's frontline and will be exploring all avenues to do so ahead of deadline day. And with all that in mind, earlier this week ChronicleLive's Lee Ryder answered two big Newcastle United questions in our Big Newcastle United Forum LIVE Q&A:
How likely is it that we will go back in for Maddison and are you confident we will secure one or two more attacking players before the end of the transfer window?
Lee said: "There's already a very good deal on the table for James Maddison. It's a key time for him and his career. Newcastle could be his shot at playing for an ambitious club moving forward. I still think that Eddie Howe will land the players he needs before deadline though whether Maddison and Leicester see sense or not."
Could we get lucky this season with a breakthrough youngster earning a regular first team place? Or do we need to wait a couple of years whilst the academy gets built up to the level of Chelsea or Man Utd?
Lee said: "I would say Elliot Anderson is the nearest to that happening any time soon. It would be great to see him used as part of squad rotation. But for that to be worthwhile he would have to play at least 15 Premier League matches and be used as a starter in the cups. If not he needs to go on loan. That said he has shown he can live with the first team. Chelsea and Man United levels are a long way away. Newcastle have lost players to rivals in recent years."
