Newcastle United's trip to Prenton Park to face Tranmere Rovers in the Carabao Cup second round has been selected for live TV brodcast by Sky Sports.
The game will take place on Wednesday, 24 August, with kick-off scheduled for 7:45pm. Tranmere progressed to the next round via a 12-11 penalty shoot-out victory over League One opponents Accrington Stanley on Tuesday.
Accrington boasted a two-goal lead at the break, but Josh Hawkes reduced the deficit just after the hour-mark, before an own goal from Ryan Astley levelled the tie.
Newcastle have been eliminated in the second round of the League Cup in four of the last five seasons. However, the Magpies have also reached the quarter-final stage three times in eight years.
