Newcastle United have done it. A long and testing season is almost over and the Magpies have finally secured a top four spot following Monday's draw with Leicester City.
It wasn't pretty but at full-time no one really cared. The post-match celebrations saw Newcastle's players and staff take part in a celebratory lap of honour as all four corners of St James' Park serenaded them.
Soon the attention will turn to next season and the return of European football on Tyneside. Madrid or Milan? Paris or Porto? Eddie Howe, and a lot of Newcastle fans, probably aren't too fussed which of Europe's elite they draw in the group stages later this year.
