A contingent from Newcastle United was at KV Oostende to hold talks over a possible takeover at the Belgian side. That's according to Het Nieuwsblad who claim figures from the Magpies were at the Ostend stadium and training complex earlier today.
The Belgian side lost their Pro League status following a 4-0 defeat to OH Leuven to end a ten year stint in the top tier. The report claims the owners of KV Oostende have also spoken with the Chinese owners of Wolves, while Bournemouth have also shown an interest.
The report claims the Magpies interest is now 'concrete' and it should come as no surprise to Newcastle supporters. Fellow Premier League side Manchester City, have one of the most successful multi-club models and the Magpies are expected to follow suit.

Newcastle and their ownership have said they'd only make a move if the opportunity was the right fit. Speaking at the FT Business of Football summit last month, co-owner Amanda Staveley said: "Obviously if we’re looking at everything in terms of how we grow Newcastle, how we grow our brand, how we grow our club.
“An opportunity to buy players affordably well, early in the cycle, is critical to our growth. We’re very focused on our academy and young players at the moment.
“Obviously we’ve looked at multi-club. Whenever you look at multi-club. you’ve got to make sure you’ve got the right fit. It’s complicated and we’re also looking at another structure, maybe something a little bit different that gives us more opportunity to work with a lot more clubs (without buying stakes in them).
"That’s at a quite early stage, so we’re just looking. I think anybody who is looking to buy any club is going to be looking at that multi-club model.”
