Here are the latest Newcastle United evening headlines on Saturday, March 19.
Newcastle arrive for warm weather Dubai training camp
Newcastle’s next Premier League game is not until April 3rd when they make the trip to North London to face Tottenham. They have decided to take advantage of the extended break by travelling to Dubai for a warm weather training camp ahead of the Premier League run-in.
According to an update posted to the club’s website earlier today, they have arrived in the Middle East for a week-long camp which is likely to involve a mixture of training and team bonding exercises.
Eddie Howe’s side made a similar decision back in January as they travelled to Saudi Arabia, a trip which preceded the club’s drastic upturn in form. Read more here.

Alan Shearer acknowledges significant St James’ Park alteration
When the new Magpies owners took over last year, they made a number of promises to restore the feel-good factor at St James’ Park and they have started to do exactly that in their first few months.
One of those changes that were promised was to rename the infamous ‘NINE’ bar at the stadium to ‘Shearer’s’, the name it originally had when it first opened.
Newcastle confirmed, on Twitter, that the bar would reopen last night with the ‘Shearer’s’ branding over the doorway and the man himself replied in typical fashion. It was a very simple reply as he tweeted the emoji that he so often does that resembles his very famous celebration. Read more here.
La Liga defender bites back at Trippier
In an interview upon returning to the Premier League, Kieran Trippier looked back on his time in Spain and, whilst being largely complimentary of La Liga, he admitted to being frustrated by the amount of timewasting in matches.
He isn’t the only who has identified such an issue with the Spanish top-flight and Atletico’s Champions League victory over Manchester United in the week highlighted it perfectly.
However, one of the league’s current players was unhappy with the Newcastle right-back’s comments as Leandro Cabrera fired back at Trippier.
“In the 2019 Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham, it looked like there was a sniper in the stands,” he told Cadena SER in Spain.
“You don’t have to be a hypocrite; when you have to win, you do whatever it takes to win.
“The rest is poetry for the stands, the radio or excuses, because the day I want to win and it’s good for me; I’ll do it. The day they want to beat me, I’ll eat it; that’s how it is.”
