Here are the latest Newcastle United evening headlines on Thursday, September 22.
Isak injury
Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has left Sweden's international camp after picking up a minor injury earlier this week. The 23-year-old celebrated his birthday on Wednesday by training away from his team-mates after a 'little feeling'.
Sweden are preparing for their Nations League clash with Serbia on Saturday but will have to do so without their star striker, with Isak now being sent home to return to England.
"It is of course sad mainly for Alex but also for us as a team," Sweden boss Janne Andersson confirmed on Thursday. "After speaking with both our medical team and Alex, it is the right decision for him to leave.”

Guimaraes injury
Newcastle United's injury woes continue to mount with Bruno Guimaraes expected to miss Brazil's friendly with Ghana on Friday. The midfielder is said to have picked up a thigh problem and while he may be fit enough to make the bench later this week, it is believed he won't be risked for the first of Selecao's two games during the international break.
Guimaraes trained with his national team-mates this week but reportedly needed special attention during a group session and is now being treated at the team hotel, according to reports in Brazil. National boss Tite is likely to use most of his squad in the next week and the 24-year-old may yet feature against Tunisia on Tuesday.
The player's representatives were staying tight-lipped on Thursday when asked about the injury but Brazil look set to keep the player in their international camp to recover which is a positive sign.

Wilson on England
Callum Wilson has “no doubt” he will make England’s World Cup squad - providing he stays fit for Newcastle United. Another frustrating start to the season saw the Magpies’ number nine bag twice before suffering a hamstring strain against Manchester City.
Injuries have plagued the 30-year-old’s time on Tyneside since arriving from Bournemouth for £20million. There can be no qualms over Wilson’s goalscoring record but 35 Premier League games missed - almost an entire season - in little over two years is alarming.
The striker signalled his intention to get back into the England squad upon arrival at St James’ Park. As it stands, Wilson has earned four caps for the Three Lions - his last coming against Bulgaria in October 2019.

Isak on injury
Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak admits he is 'longing' to play for Sweden again after being forced to withdraw from international duty due to injury. The 23-year-old trained alone earlier this week after a minor knock but will now miss his country's upcoming fixtures against Serbia and Slovenia.
Isak departed the Sweden camp on Thursday and will now return to England as Newcastle cross their fingers over the severity of the injury. The former Real Sociedad striker has led the line in recent games with Callum Wilson sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Speaking after his international withdrawal, Isak said: "It feels very sad to have to leave the team. I had longed to play in the blue and yellow shirt again. I wish the boys the best of luck on Saturday and Tuesday."
