Magpies midfielders hailed as 'stars of the show'
Former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell has hailed Newcastle United midfielders Joe Willock and Joelinton as 'the stars of the show' due to their role in the Magpies resurgence.
Joelinton was once a divisive figure on Tyneside but, since reinventing himself as a midfielder, he has lit up the Premier League.
Willock has also embarked on an impressive run of form, helping Eddie Howe's side climb away from the relegation zone.
Speaking to Football Insider, Campbell said: "The stars of the show have been in that midfield though. Willock and Joelinton especially have been terrific. Howe has got that midfield cooking. Joelinton has been nothing short of sensational.
"They are playing really well. I think Newcastle are going places."
Howe offers insight into dressing room mood
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has insisted his players are not going 'over the top' in their emotions despite their sparkling run of form.
The 44-year-old has revived the Magpies, helping the club steer away from the Premier League drop zone with the help of some January transfer window reinforcements.
Although he has admitted his squad are pleased, Howe has insisted the players are aware of the importance of their current spell.
Speaking after his side's win over Brighton & Hove Albion, Howe said: "We’ve got a really difficult run of games – we’ve got four away games, which I think for any team in the Premier League is very difficult, and also they are four difficult opponents, so today was very important.
“It’s lifted us in terms of, obviously, the points, but we haven’t achieved anything. I saw the players in the dressing room afterwards and it’s a good sign. They’re pleased, but they’re not over the top in how they are feeling. They know we are still in the midst of a very important spell.”

Wright believes Howe is starting to prove doubters wrong
Pundit Ian Wright has insisted Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is starting to prove doubters wrong at St James' Park.
Following the departure of Steve Bruce, a slew of high-profile managers from across Europe were linked with the vacancy.
The club selected Howe as Bruce's successor and Wright believes he is starting to prove those who were left with their eyebrows raised by the appointment wrong.
Speaking on BBC's Match of the Day, Wright said: "I'm pleased for Eddie. When he got the job, eyebrows were raised simply because of the calibre of manager they were being linked with bringing.
"But he's a very experienced manager and he's started to prove that he's got what it takes to get them out of it."
