Botman deal breakthrough
Newcastle United are finally thought to have agreed a deal with French club Lille for the services of their young Dutch defender, Sven Botman. Various journalists and news media outlets are reporting that a €37 million offer has been accepted, with personal terms not posing any issues. Reports also suggest that Botman will have his medical next week before being unveiled as a Newcastle player.
This marks another significant signing under Newcastle's new ownership, with the Magpies fending off competition from Italian champions AC Milan to acquire the highly-rated Dutchman. Newcastle had initially wanted Botman in January, but were not willing to meet the asking price set by Lille then, and instead brought in Dan Burn from Brighton.
Now it appears they have finally got their man, and can begin searching for new recruits in other positions on the field.
Home shirt in stores
Newcastle United's new home shirt has appeared in stores for the first time. Images have circulated on social media of the kit being available to purchase from the club shop at St. James' Park, following its launch on June 8 for pre-order. This would suggest that the Castore-designed kit is now available not only in the club shop, but also in various other sports shops.
Some fans were surprised that betting company 'Fun88' remained the main shirt sponsor given the Saudi-backed takeover, but many have praised the shirt's design, with the amount of stripes and their thickness being widely applauded.

Sam Fender at Glastonbury
Newcastle fan-favourite Sam Fender took to the iconic Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury festival last night. Much to the delight of all Newcastle supporters there or watching at home, he adorned the stage with a Newcastle United flag, and was accompanied by his band and much-loved saxophone player, Johnny 'Blue Hat'. He was seen wearing a replica of a Newcastle home-kit from the 1980s.
Fender performed between 8:15pm and 9:15pm, and impressed the massive crowd with some of his best known hits including 'Seventeen Going Under' and 'Hypersonic Missiles'. He also made clear that this was his first ever time at Glastonbury, either as a performer or as a fan.
