Joelinton goal target
Joelinton has challenged himself to bag 10 Premier League goals this season. The Magpies’ record goalscorer went from zero to hero last season, reforming himself from goal-shy striker to midfield battering ram under Eddie Howe.
Most Newcastle fans now make Joelinton one of the first names on the team sheet but he insists scoring goals is still his aim. Speaking to The Sun, the Brazilian said: “I have to get in the box more, score more goals and give more assists. I’m hoping to get at least ten goals this season.
“My five-year-old son Neto is my biggest fan but I'll come back and he’ll say, ‘Daddy, daddy, why didn’t you score?’ There is a lot of pressure at home!”

Cornet-no!
Newcastle appear to have missed out on target Maxwel Cornet, as per reports. The Burnley winger is travelling South to complete a medical ahead of a move to West Ham.
ChronicleLive reported last month how the Magpies were offered the 25-year-old but Toon chiefs have decided against triggering his £17.5million release clause.
It is no secret that attacking targets - including a winger - are a priority before the window slams shut on September 1.
Will Cornet turn out to be one that got away?
Rodgers on Foxes fire sale
Brendan Rodgers has confessed Leicester City may need to offload their assets this summer. Newcastle have seen two bids rejected for James Maddison, the Foxes valuing the midfielder at around £60million.
Reports also suggest Chelsea are pursuing Wesley Fofana to shore up their backline. Last night, long-serving goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel departed for Nice after 11 years at the King Power Stadium.
Rodgers admitted Leicester must “balance its books” before new signings are made. He told BBC Radio Leicester: “I became aware towards the end of the season that the club would have to balance its books, then, of course, that becomes very difficult.
“The club will not look to spend money they don’t have and that is where the club is stable and they will always be very sensible.”
