A fee of £12m was agreed with Villa for the 26-year-old who has been praised effusively by Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.

Middlesbrough interested in Newcastle forward Dwight Gayle
Middlesbrough are reportedly interest in signing Newcastle United's Dwight Gayle in a move that would see the striker swap Tyneside for Teeside.
Gayle has barely featured for the Magpies this season and is said to be available this summer.
With Chris Wilder's side having missed out on the Championship play-offs narrowly, Gayle could provide Boro with the goals needed to fire them back to the Premier League.
