Only Kylian Mbappe bettered Newcastle United target Hugo Ekitike in one key stat last season
Newcastle United look set to bolster their forward line this summer with the proposed addition of promising French striker Hugo Ekitike from Ligue 1 side Reims.
The 19-year-old was linked with a move to Tyneside in January, with a deal said to be agreed upon for his signature. However, Ekitike decided instead to remain with Reims. He went on to score 10 goals in this season, an impressive feat for a teenager in a 12th placed Ligue 1 side.

And the forward has recently drawn comparisons to French superstar Kylian Mbappe.

While he absolutely isn't the finished product yet, and he has still yet to officially sign for Newcastle, Eddie Howe and co could be getting an gem of a prospect in Ekitike this summer.
