Newcastle boss Eddie Howe issues Sven Botman plan
Eddie Howe will take his time when it comes to integrating £35m man Sven Botman into his plans this summer.
Botman watched from the sidelines as Newcastle got their pre-season campaign off to a flyer with a 5-1 win over Gateshead behind closed doors.
Alongside the Dutchman, Nick Pope and Fabian Schar were also not named in Howe's friendly squad with the Newcastle boss stating after the friendly: "I think with those lads we didn’t want to push them too quickly. We wanted to give them a little bit more time because they’ve had reduced training time. Just being careful but just making sure that, if we can, keep the majority of the squad fit."
