Clark on promotion hopes
Ciaran Clark has outlined his desire to achieve promotion with Sheffield United this season. Newcastle offloaded the 32-year-old on loan today, effectively ending his six-year stint at the club.
Eddie Howe left Clark out of his 25-man Premier League squad in February and made it clear he was not part of his plans going forward. Upon signing for his new club, the defender spoke of his excitement to be playing again.
"Just to be involved and around a squad is massive for me,” he told SUTV. “I spent six months not involved last season. I was just training. It's not a great feeling to be honest but this is a new challenge and a fresh start and one I'm looking forward to.

"I am just really excited to be involved again and looking forward to the season. I've had a couple of conversations with the manager; we talked about the style of play, me knowing a few of the boys and the challenge that is in front of us.
"I'm looking forward to playing regularly, fitting into the style of play and formation, we know the Championship is tough but with a huge togetherness and a big effort by everyone, the squad has the quality to get out of the league. I saw how close the club went last season and the aim now is to get promoted."

‘Gordon going nowhere’ - Lampard
Everton boss Frank Lampard has candidly revealed that Anthony Gordon is not for sale this summer. ChronicleLive understands the Magpies had shortlisted the winger, who emerged at Goodison Park last season.
However, the Toffees have rewarded Gordon with the number 10 shirt in an attempt to keep him on Merseyside. Talk of a new contract has also intensified to keep potential suitors at bay.
Former England midfielder Lampard spoke to Everton’s media channel about the 21-year-old. "You have to work to get the number 10 shirt and Anthony has done that,” he said.
“He's a link to the crowd, a link to the fans, he's a local boy and a great talent. He gives everything and is going nowhere - he is our player.
"That was something that's hugely important to me. He's the sort of player we want to build going forward with and I'm delighted that he's got his number 10 but I want him to continue to earn it."

Real Sociedad respond to Isak talk
Real Sociedad have responded to ChronicleLive when pressed over Newcastle’s interest in Alexander Isak. Reports have linked the Magpies with a £50million move for the Swedish striker.
Isak only bagged six goals in 31 La Liga outings in 2021-22 but that does not appear to have deterred United. When approached, Sociedad stayed coy on the speculation over their striker.
A communications official said: "The only thing we have to say is that he will be back for training on Thursday."
