Newcastle United fans planning to use the Metro to get to their team's Premier League clash against Manchester United this weekend should allow extra time for their journey.
Nexus have "strongly urged" supporters travelling to St James' Park from south of the Tyne on Sunday to leave plenty of time due to ongoing emergency repair works on the Metro network.
As previously reported this week, the Metro line is currently off Gateshead Stadium to Jarrow/Brockley Whins due to a severe overhead line failure in the Pelaw area. A total 800 metres of overhead wire came down between Pelaw and Hebburn at around 6am on Thursday, causing travel chaos on both yellow and green lines for many who rely on the service in South Tyneside.
