Newcastle United will take on an 1860 Munich side that were thrashed 6-0 by Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend with the third tier German side accused of "giving up" by their boss Michael Kollner.
The team were also accused of suffering from a bit of fatigue after the team attended a fan festival the day before but even after some home truths in the 1860 Munich camp this week the reality is Newcastle have the ideal chance to build some momentum and confidence in this fixture. This will be the areas of focus for Eddie Howe's squad after a great week so far in Austria.
Going into the Newcastle game, 52-year-old former Nurnberg coach Kollner was asked about his side's hammering at the hands of Gladbach, and said: "Look we had a lot of chances to score, but just weren't callous enough. On the other hand, you can see that you can't give up in any minute.

"Unfortunately, we didn't defend consistently enough. It might sound stupid with after a 6-0 defeat but I liked a lot of what I saw. We trained hard yesterday and lost a lot of energy with the fan festival yesterday. You have to see that from the overall context
"We have a good team, you could see that today, but you can't slack off five minutes. That happened to us in the first half and we were rattled."
This will be 1860 Munich's final friendly game and they will be looking to prepare for the new season in better fashion after their thrashing in Rottach-Egern last week. But after Newcastle's 5-1 hammering of Gateshead you get the feeling the Magpies are in the mood for goals.
Indeed, Howe, speaking to the club TV channel, said in the build-up to the game: "You saw a couple of great counter-attacks at the end and there could have been more so we showed a ruthless side right at the end of that game. I'd have loved us to show that a bit earlier, but it came and when it came, we showed we can be a really potent force."
