A round-up of the latest Newcastle United evening headlines on Sunday, April 24.
Bruno Guimarães learning from the best
When Newcastle United signed Guimarães for a whopping £40m from Lyon in January, they thought they were signing a ball playing midfielder with a real touch of class. And while Guimarães has displayed just that since his arrival from the south of France, it’s perhaps his eye for goal in recent weeks that has really got fans talking.
The Brazilian international scored his fourth goal for the Magpies on Saturday with an sublime finish past Norwich City keeper Tim Krul, helping his side to a rampant 3-0 win. The midfielder pounced on a lazy pass out from the back by the Canaries shot-stopper, leaving Guimarães baring down upon goal seconds later, lofting a deft chip over Krul much to the delight of the noisy travelling away contingent.
And a post-match twitter exchange with legendary Newcastle striker Alan Shearer might just have revealed why the 24-year-old is all of sudden amongst the goals for the Toon Army.
I watched your dvd boss

Following his stellar strike, Shearer tweeted “Oh my word Brunnnoooo”.
And within hours, Bruno responded to the Geordie icons tweet with “I watched your dvd boss”.
Guimarães might not match Shearer’s scoring record during his time in Black & White, but he’s certainly gotten his career on Tyneside off to a flying start.

Joelinton’s Tyneside renaissance continues
It can’t be understated just how much Joelinton has turned around his career on Tyneside.
Moved back up front following his revolutionary switch to centre midfield in recent months, the Brazilian bagged himself a superb brace against Norwich, helping the Magpies reach the lofty heights of ninth in the Premier League.
So impressive was the £40million man’s performance, he was serenaded off the pitch at Carrow Road by the travelling Toon supporters which left him feeling elated.
Joelinton said: "It's a nice feeling after a tough time. I feel this love from the fans.
"It's a great feeling and now I want to give them more nice moments. We played very well, we scored the first goal and controlled the game.
Newcastle spend gets under Dean Smith’s skin
Following his sides 3-0 defeat to Newcastle on Saturday, Norwich manager Dean Smith told BBC Sport: “You just look at the January window they've had, they spent nigh on £100m and they've improved.
"Eddie's an unbelievable coach - I've said that before - but they're pretty much owned by a country so they're always going to improve."
While Smith was complimentary of Newcastle manager Eddie Howe’s coaching prowess, his comment about the Magpie’s spending was seen as ‘sour grapes’ by plenty of Toon fans.
Gabby Agbonlahor contradicts himself with Ivan Toney to Newcastle prediction
It’s safe to say that there is no love lost between Gabby Agbonlahor and Newcastle United fans.
Just weeks ago, the former Villa striker turned pundit stated on talkSPORT that footballers would move to Brentford for less money rather than signing for Newcastle United.
However, when asked recently by fellow talkSPORT presenter Ally McCoist whether he regretted those comments, the 35-year-old doubled down, only to then link Brentford forward Ivan Toney as a potential transfer target for…Newcastle.
