Magpies plot ‘record bid’ for Isak
Newcastle are plotting a ‘record bid’ to sign Real Sociedad and Sweden striker Alexander Isak this summer. Eddie Howe is looking to add firepower to his attack to provide quality and competition for Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.
The Telegraph report that Newcastle’s hierarchy are unanimous that Isak would be a great addition to the squad and will test Sociedad’s resolve with a buy-now-pay-later deal with the bigger instalment to come next summer.

Anderson praises Barton
Elliot Anderson has opened up on the huge role that former Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton played in his successful loan spell at Bristol City last season. The 19-year-old flourished with the League Two side as they secured promotion on the final day in dramatic fashion.
Anderson was christened the ‘Geordie Maradona’ at Rovers and he is now expected to have a big future on Tyneside. The Magpies actually rejected interest from the Championship and League One as Steve Harper and Shola Ameobi chose former teammate Barton as the best fit for the youngster.

Hendrick joins Reading
Newcastle United midfielder Jeff Hendrick has joined Championship club Reading on a season-long loan deal. The Republic of Ireland international has seen just 10 minutes of action in the Premier League under Eddie Howe and spent the second half of last season on-loan at Queens Park Rangers.
Hendrick was left behind as the Magpies travelled to Austria earlier this week after being told to train with the reserves in recent days. The 30-year-old made 27 appearances for Newcastle after arriving on a free transfer in 2020. However, recently, the player admitted he felt his time on Tyneside could be coming to an end.
