Here are your Newcastle United evening headlines for Monday, August 15.
Newcastle move interests Callum Hudson-Odoi but Magpies face stiff competition
Newcastle are believed to be on Chelsea's list of potential destinations for Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer.
Chronicle Live understands that United have confirmed their interest in the England international but will face stiff competition from a clutch of clubs for the right-winger. It is believed that the likes of Leicester City, Southampton and clubs in Europe are keen on his services.
The 21-year-old was heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund this summer but Thomas Tuchel wanted to look at the player in pre-season. Hudson-Odoi was withdrawn from Chelsea's reserves for a game against Fulham later.
Benfica tell Ramos admirers to bid up
Newcastle have been told the door is still ajar when it comes to Goncalo Ramos of Benfica - despite the player insisting he was focused on life with the Portuguese giants.
Ramos, still just 21, does have ambitions to one day play in the Premier League but offered the press a sensible answer when asked about his future over the weekend.
As reported yesterday on Chronicle Live, Benfica are holding out for a deal worth around £35million. Given Ramos' age he is deemed as a player that has the type of profile Eddie Howe is looking for in that he can compete for a first team place alongside more senior stars like Callum Wilson. Ramos' wage would also fit into United's salary structure.
Burn relishing Man City clash
Dan Burn says that preparations at Newcastle United this week must be centred around facing "the best team in the world" at St James' Park on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City travel to Newcastle having started their Premier League season in immaculate style - beating West Ham United 2-0 and condemning AFC Bournemouth to a 4-0 defeat.
With the likes of Erling Haaland, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin de Bruyne in great early season form, the Magpies face one of their toughest tests of the campaign but Burn is fully focused on the task in hand.
Burn told Chronicle Live: "City to me are the best team in the world. It will be a good measuring stick to see where we are compared to them."
